he offers intelligent hope.<br>With each chapter we dive into a new marine world, and what remains is not despair but the urge to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reading experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is it about?<br>The author (and his like-minded co-author) and the title already give the answer.<br>Each chapter introduces a new oceanic world.<br>At school I learned there are three oceans.<br>Without disputing that, he classifies the waters differently.<br>So the book doesn\u2019t have a single storyline; instead, we get to know the world of the oceans.<br>Every chapter is its own story.<br>For me, the strongest impression is that this is finally an optimistic piece of writing!<br>Without naivety.<br>He always starts by presenting the place and its beauty; then come the problems.<br>By the end of each chapter I don\u2019t conclude that there\u2019s nothing to see and no need to worry; that\u2019s not the case.<br>What I can say at the end of the stories is that there is hope.<br>In this world overcrowded with scare stories, it feels so good to say: there is still hope.<br>That\u2019s what the book does: it shows the oceans\u2019 tragedies without making me want to give up.<br>Instead, I say: these events are terrible, but not all is lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Characters?<br>I looked it up: the co-author is called Colin Buffield.<br>In each section the locals are the main characters, but there are uninhabited places too; in some, for example, the orcas take center stage.<br>The author mostly narrates in the first person, so he has been to these places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Setting?<br>Naturally, the Gal\u00e1pagos Islands are included.<br>We also visit mangrove forests, kelp beds, the South Pole, the Indian Ocean\u2014and the list could go on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Evaluation?<br>He knows the trick: I myself love stories.<br>He simply writes well.<br>The style is excellent.<br>A piece this engaging might not even fit into National Geographic\u2019s yellow frame\u2014yet it\u2019s at least as informative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Favorites?<br>I liked the aquatic plants and the underwater forests the most.<br>I\u2019d love to see those waters in person.<br>And the cutest \u201ccharacters\u201d were the orcas, the apex predators of the oceans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why am I reading it?<br>This may be an unnecessary question.<br>Obviously because I care about conservation.<br>An even stronger reason is that it\u2019s about the oceans.<br>Also, I\u2019ve always found the author an interesting character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What feelings does it evoke?<br>Not crushing ones.<br>Here too, they describe quite vividly what may, for example, dry out, die off, or overheat; at the same time they recount cases where someone managed to reverse a little of the damage, which gives hope.<br>Because the authors\u2019 love of the ocean and zest for life shine through the book&#8230;<br>Perhaps that\u2019s why this book inspires me as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">les Baux, 2025. 10.07. Tuesday<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">David Attenborough : Oc\u00e9an<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attenborough ne joue pas la peur : il propose un espoir intelligent.<br>\u00c0 chaque chapitre, nous plongeons dans un nouvel univers marin, et il ne reste pas la d\u00e9sesp\u00e9rance mais l\u2019envie d\u2019agir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exp\u00e9rience de lecture<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De quoi \u00e7a parle ?<br>L\u2019auteur (et son coauteur de m\u00eame sensibilit\u00e9) ainsi que le titre donnent d\u00e9j\u00e0 la r\u00e9ponse.<br>Chaque chapitre nous fait d\u00e9couvrir un nouveau monde oc\u00e9anique.<br>\u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9cole, j\u2019ai appris qu\u2019il y a trois oc\u00e9ans.<br>Sans contester cela, il classe les eaux autrement.<br>Le livre n\u2019a donc pas une seule intrigue ; il nous fait plut\u00f4t conna\u00eetre le monde des oc\u00e9ans.<br>Chaque chapitre est une histoire \u00e0 part.<br>Pour moi, l\u2019impression la plus forte, c\u2019est que c\u2019est enfin un texte optimiste !<br>Sans na\u00efvet\u00e9.<br>Il commence toujours par pr\u00e9senter le lieu et ses beaut\u00e9s ; puis viennent les probl\u00e8mes.<br>\u00c0 la fin du chapitre, je ne me dis pas qu\u2019il n\u2019y a rien \u00e0 voir et qu\u2019il est inutile de s\u2019inqui\u00e9ter ; ce n\u2019est pas le cas.<br>Au terme des r\u00e9cits, je peux dire qu\u2019il y a de l\u2019espoir.<br>Dans ce monde satur\u00e9 d\u2019alertes anxiog\u00e8nes, cela fait du bien de l\u2019affirmer : il reste de l\u2019espoir.<br>C\u2019est ce que fait le livre : il montre les trag\u00e9dies des oc\u00e9ans sans me donner envie de baisser les bras.<br>Au lieu de cela, je me dis : ces \u00e9v\u00e9nements sont terribles, mais tout n\u2019est pas perdu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Personnages ?<br>Je m\u2019en suis assur\u00e9 : le coauteur s\u2019appelle Colin Buffield.<br>Dans chaque partie, les habitants locaux sont les protagonistes, mais il y a aussi des lieux inhabit\u00e9s ; parfois, par exemple, les orques sont au premier plan.<br>L\u2019auteur raconte le plus souvent \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re personne, il a donc visit\u00e9 ces endroits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lieu ?<br>\u00c9videmment, les \u00eeles Gal\u00e1pagos ne peuvent pas manquer.<br>Nous passons aussi par des for\u00eats de mangroves, des for\u00eats sous-marines d\u2019algues, le p\u00f4le Sud, l\u2019oc\u00e9an Indien \u2014 et la liste pourrait continuer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00c9valuation ?<br>Il conna\u00eet l\u2019astuce : moi aussi, j\u2019aime les histoires.<br>Il \u00e9crit tout simplement bien.<br>Le style est excellent.<br>Un texte aussi captivant n\u2019entrerait peut-\u00eatre pas dans le cadre jaune de National Geographic \u2014 et pourtant il est au moins aussi informatif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Favoris ?<br>J\u2019ai pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 les plantes aquatiques et les for\u00eats sous-marines.<br>J\u2019aimerais voir ces eaux en vrai.<br>Et les \u00ab personnages \u00bb les plus craquants \u00e9taient les orques, grands pr\u00e9dateurs des oc\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pourquoi je le lis ?<br>La question est peut-\u00eatre superflue.<br>\u00c9videmment parce que la protection de la nature m\u2019int\u00e9resse.<br>Raison plus forte encore : il parle des oc\u00e9ans.<br>De plus, j\u2019ai toujours trouv\u00e9 l\u2019auteur tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quelles \u00e9motions cela suscite-t-il ?<br>Rien d\u2019accablant.<br>Ici aussi, on d\u00e9crit de fa\u00e7on tr\u00e8s parlante ce qui, par exemple, risque de s\u2019ass\u00e9cher, de dispara\u00eetre ou de surchauffer ; et en m\u00eame temps on raconte que parfois quelqu\u2019un a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 inverser un peu les processus \u2014 ce qui donne de l\u2019espoir.<br>Comme la passion des auteurs pour l\u2019oc\u00e9an et leur amour de la vie transparaissent&#8230;<br>C\u2019est peut-\u00eatre pour cela que ce livre m\u2019inspire moi aussi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">les Baux, 2025. 10.07. mardi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Attenborough nem riogat, hanem okos rem\u00e9nyt ad.
