Nagy \u00e9lm\u00e9ny ekkora m\u00e9retben \u00e9s r\u00e9szletess\u00e9gben l\u00e1tni egy m\u0171vet, egy \u00e9letm\u0171vet. the ceiling height can be ten meters (they really carved out the mountain nicely).<br>Why today?<br>Because once a month, on a Saturday evening, they run an extra program: not the usual exhibition, but four shows selected from recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u00e9zanne<br>This C\u00e9zanne really had some ugly women.<br>I\u2019ve never seen pretty female figures from him.<br>I\u2019ve got a C\u00e9zanne picture in my room too; okay, it\u2019s just a poster\u2014and even that is only a landscape.<br>Here they call him the Master of Provence, and the colors really do have that pastel mood of a small village.<br>I loved how it triggered memories!<br>In some parts he layered houses on top of each other\u2014it looked like he\u2019d randomly tossed cubes onto the canvas.<br>But I could see it forming the view of Valensole built into a hillside.<br>Then again, maybe he actually painted a mountain village near Aix, since Aix was his big favorite\u2014just like mine.<br>That city was surely forged by the god of art!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Orientalists<br>They curated Eastern art from the era when our side was in the so-called Dark Ages.<br>The refinement of that time and place is simply stunning!<br>I wondered how long they had to watch those lions and tigers in the wild.<br>How did they observe them to paint with such pinpoint accuracy?<br>Back then there were no zoos where I could sit on a bench.<br>Meanwhile, we were in what we call the dark Middle Ages.<br>You could see emotions on those animals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vermeer<br>He painted the picture of a bluish woman with a pearl earring.<br>Blown up to the size of a house wall, she\u2019s a total babe, with a distinctly sexy mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Van Gogh<br>He has a city scene showing a yellowish terrace at night.<br>I only just noticed that this terrace still exists on the Forum square today!<br>Except now purple flowers trail above the tables.<br>And those blues (in another painting) really are like the skies over the Alpilles.<br>Even today there are spots here where you can see the starry sky in 360 degrees, and if you stare long enough you can truly muse that these heavens are turning.<br>By the way, Van Gogh really did create while hammered.<br>He had visions looking at the clouds that only absinthe can cause.<br>For example, in his almond-blossom painting (a pity those gorgeous pink almond trees are dying off one by one).<br>Yeah, absinthe can literally drive you mad.<br>These days you can\u2019t even buy the version that\u2019s such a strong poison it might drive some painters to ear-cutting.<br>Poor guy died penniless; if only he\u2019d at least returned the empty bottles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which reminds me: Hemingway had turns of phrase no one writes sober.<br>And when he writes, under buzzing fighter planes, by olive trees, in a military sleeping bag, about a couple losing their virginity\u2014those associative leaps feel stitched together by alcohol.<br>Funny thing is, most Nobel laureates aren\u2019t alcoholics.<br>Maybe there\u2019s another way to do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Images dans la carri\u00e8re<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Des chefs-d\u2019\u0153uvre projet\u00e9s sur d\u2019antiques parois calcaires : troisi\u00e8me visite, et les lumi\u00e8res de Les Baux m\u2019ont encore scotch\u00e9.<br>Des espaces immenses, des tableaux \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle d\u2019un mur, et quatre s\u00e9lections sp\u00e9ciales pour un samedi soir extra.<br>Des pastels de C\u00e9zanne aux ciels tourbillonnants de Van Gogh, la carri\u00e8re m\u2019a fait graviter autour de l\u2019art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les Baux-de-Provence, 2025-10-11<br>C\u2019est l\u2019ancienne carri\u00e8re de calcaire o\u00f9 l\u2019on voit des animations 3D r\u00e9alis\u00e9es \u00e0 partir de tableaux.<br>J\u2019y suis all\u00e9 pour la troisi\u00e8me fois, parce que ce qu\u2019ils font est sensationnel.<br>Un billet comprend g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement un programme de trente minutes et un autre de quinze minutes.<br>Voir une \u0153uvre\u2014une vie d\u2019\u0153uvre\u2014\u00e0 une telle \u00e9chelle et avec un tel niveau de d\u00e9tail, c\u2019est immense.<br>Ils illuminent toutes les parois, le plafond et le sol de la carri\u00e8re avec des projecteurs.<br>Les dimensions sont \u00e9normes ; la hauteur sous plafond peut atteindre dix m\u00e8tres (ils ont joliment creus\u00e9 la montagne).<br>Pourquoi aujourd\u2019hui ?<br>Parce qu\u2019une fois par mois, un samedi soir, ils font un programme extra : pas l\u2019exposition habituelle, mais quatre shows choisis parmi les derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u00e9zanne<br>Chez ce C\u00e9zanne, les femmes sont plut\u00f4t laides.<br>Je n\u2019ai pas vu chez lui de jolies silhouettes f\u00e9minines.<br>Dans ma chambre, j\u2019ai aussi un \u201cC\u00e9zanne\u201d ; bon, ce n\u2019est qu\u2019une affiche\u2014et c\u2019est un paysage.<br>Ici, on le surnomme le Ma\u00eetre de Provence, et les couleurs ont vraiment cette humeur pastel d\u2019un petit village.<br>J\u2019ai ador\u00e9 la fa\u00e7on dont il r\u00e9veille les souvenirs !<br>Par endroits, il empile des maisons ; on dirait qu\u2019il a jet\u00e9 des cubes au hasard sur la toile.<br>Et pourtant j\u2019y voyais la vue de Valensole b\u00e2tie \u00e0 flanc de colline.<br>Apr\u00e8s, peut-\u00eatre qu\u2019il peignait en fait un village de montagne pr\u00e8s d\u2019Aix, puisque Aix \u00e9tait son grand amour\u2014comme le mien.<br>Cette ville, c\u2019est s\u00fbr, a \u00e9t\u00e9 sculpt\u00e9e par le dieu de l\u2019art !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Orientalistes<br>Ils ont r\u00e9uni de l\u2019art \u201coriental\u201d de l\u2019\u00e9poque o\u00f9, chez nous, se d\u00e9roulait le Moyen \u00c2ge dit \u201csombre\u201d.<br>Le raffinement de ce temps et de ce lieu est tout simplement renversant !<br>Je me suis demand\u00e9 combien de temps ils avaient d\u00fb observer ces lions et ces tigres dans la nature.<br>Comment les ont-ils observ\u00e9s pour peindre avec une telle pr\u00e9cision ?<br>\u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, il n\u2019y avait pas de zoos o\u00f9 m\u2019asseoir sur un banc.<br>Pendant ce temps-l\u00e0, chez nous, c\u2019\u00e9tait le \u201cMoyen \u00c2ge sombre\u201d.<br>On voyait des \u00e9motions sur ces animaux !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vermeer<br>C\u2019est lui qui a peint la femme bleu\u00e2tre \u00e0 la boucle d\u2019oreille en perle.<br>Agrandie \u00e0 la taille d\u2019un mur, c\u2019est une bombe, avec une bouche franchement sexy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Van Gogh<br>Il a une sc\u00e8ne urbaine montrant une terrasse jaun\u00e2tre, la nuit.<br>Je viens de remarquer que cette terrasse existe encore aujourd\u2019hui sur la place du Forum !<br>Sauf que maintenant, des fleurs violettes courent au-dessus des tables.<br>Et ces bleus (sur un autre tableau) sont vraiment ceux des ciels au-dessus des Alpilles.<br>Ici, il y a toujours des points d\u2019o\u00f9 l\u2019on voit le ciel \u00e9toil\u00e9 \u00e0 360 degr\u00e9s, et si l\u2019on regarde assez longtemps, on peut vraiment se dire que ces cieux tournent.<br>Au fait, Van Gogh cr\u00e9ait vraiment en \u00e9tant bien bourr\u00e9.<br>Il avait des visions en regardant les nuages que seule l\u2019absinthe peut provoquer.<br>Par exemple sur son tableau aux amandiers en fleurs (dommage que ces magnifiques amandiers roses d\u00e9p\u00e9rissent les uns apr\u00e8s les autres).<br>Oui, l\u2019absinthe peut litt\u00e9ralement rendre fou.<br>Aujourd\u2019hui, on ne peut m\u00eame plus acheter la version si forte qu\u2019elle pousserait certains peintres \u00e0 se couper l\u2019oreille.<br>Le pauvre est mort sans le sou ;
