This town seems to be a favourite of Niki’s, where even the locals are willing to walk to the local bus stop. When I arrived at noon on a Sunday with my scooter, I discovered that it was market day. The first thing I stumbled upon was a flea market in Morganne Square, which is relatively new, only about twenty years old. I was able to purchase coffee cups for only one euro! I broke one on my way home, but it was still worth it. A little further up, due to the town being built on a hill, there is a park-like square where the food market is located with its usual vendors. I would love to sample everything. It’s amazing how broad the word paradise can be. I found about ten different vendors and I already know that each one tastes different. There are many different sizes, sugar contents, and moisture levels among them. In addition, there is a colourful selection of hot food available, ranging from Far Eastern cuisine to local dishes, mainly consisting of fresh vegetables. When I’m at the ham mountains, I take out a handkerchief and my mouth waters at the sight of the ham slices. I purchase two pastries from a retired married couple, even though I don’t need anything else. I had a chat with a few vendors, and they all seemed curious about my accent. So, I was really excited to visit the must-see attractions this afternoon, including the house of Nostradamus, the military history museum in the castle, and the great church. But no worries, I still got to walk around the castle and enjoy the panoramic view from the walls. Unfortunately, I found out that everything is closed on Sundays. Plus, the city centre is super easy to explore on foot – the longest distance is just between the railway station and the cathedral. \ud83d\ude42 The uphill walk takes around thirty minutes. I love discovering small gardens in unexpected locations. The scenery is typical of Provence, which is just beautiful. I especially admire the French balconies with their long palettes, which blend seamlessly with the existing ambience of new buildings. The local limestone walls are so beautiful, and what’s even more impressive is that they are rarely plastered. The wooden window trellises are usually light blue, but in this town, they also use red, red and purple, which adds a unique touch. Although the time for mass is unknown, the churches are still worth a visit on any other day of the week. It’s fascinating to see how the castle and the church blend different architectural styles, but it’s hard to tell whether they have medieval, Romanesque or Gothic elements. If I had to choose, I would definitely opt for the fortress-like buildings of the Romanesque period. The city is absolutely beautiful and can be easily explored in just half a day. Additionally, the city boasts a fantastic flying academy and a surprisingly large movie theatre. Although there may be few must-see attractions, the atmosphere is definitely worth experiencing. I cannot pick just one attraction, but the city centre itself is a must-see, with its charming cobbled streets, beautiful frescoed walls, and trendy terraces. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices too – I had a coffee for just one euro and two delicious pastries for only two euros, which is a steal for this area!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C’\u00e9tait la ville pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e de Niki. Une ville o\u00f9 le bus local passe et o\u00f9 m\u00eame les Nikis \u00e9taient pr\u00eats \u00e0 marcher jusqu’\u00e0 l’arr\u00eat de bus pour le prendre. Je pense \u00e0 eux. J’arrive \u00e0 midi avec le bus et mon scooter. Le dimanche, c’est jour de march\u00e9. La premi\u00e8re chose que je rencontre est un march\u00e9 aux puces sur la place Morganne. C’est une place jeune, une vingtaine d’ann\u00e9es. J’ai trouv\u00e9 des tasses \u00e0 caf\u00e9 pour seulement un euro ! J’en ai cass\u00e9 une sur le chemin du retour, \u00e7a valait quand m\u00eame le coup. Un peu plus haut (parce que la ville est construite sur une colline), sur une place qui ressemble davantage \u00e0 un parc, se trouve le march\u00e9 alimentaire habituel avec les vendeurs habituels. J’aurais aim\u00e9 go\u00fbter \u00e0 tout. Aujourd’hui encore, je suis \u00e9tonn\u00e9 de voir \u00e0 quel point le mot “paradis” est large. Je peux trouver une dizaine de moiti\u00e9s d’un m\u00eame vendeur et je sais d\u00e9j\u00e0 que chaque moiti\u00e9 a un go\u00fbt diff\u00e9rent. Certaines sont plus sucr\u00e9es, d’autres plus humides, certaines sont minuscules et d’autres \u00e9normes. Il y a aussi une s\u00e9lection color\u00e9e de plats chauds, de la cuisine extr\u00eame-orientale \u00e0 la cuisine locale – principalement des l\u00e9gumes frais. Devant les montagnes de jambon, je sors un mouchoir, mes yeux brillent – comme une tranche de jambon – et j’absorbe ma salive qui coule. Je n’ai besoin de rien. J’ach\u00e8te deux p\u00e2tisseries \u00e0 un couple de retrait\u00e9s. J’engage la conversation avec plusieurs vendeurs. Chacun me demande imm\u00e9diatement d’o\u00f9 vient mon accent. Les leurs sont tr\u00e8s mignons : ils ont un accent tr\u00e8s tra\u00eenant, mais un accent agr\u00e9able et clair ; je les comprends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’apr\u00e8s-midi est consacr\u00e9e aux visites incontournables : la maison de Nostradamus, le mus\u00e9e d’histoire militaire du ch\u00e2teau, la grande \u00e9glise ; mais je me rends vite compte que nous sommes dimanche et que rien n’est ouvert. Je peux me promener dans le ch\u00e2teau – une pi\u00e8ce est ouverte de l’int\u00e9rieur. Rien que pour le panorama, cela vaut la peine de monter sur les murailles. D’ailleurs, tout le centre-ville est une v\u00e9ritable promenade de sant\u00e9. La distance la plus longue est celle qui s\u00e9pare la gare de la cath\u00e9drale. C’est une promenade de trente minutes en mont\u00e9e. Ce que j’aime particuli\u00e8rement, c’est qu’\u00e0 des endroits inattendus, je tombe parfois sur de minuscules jardins. Le paysage est le paysage proven\u00e7al habituel. Pour moi, ce sont les balcons typiquement fran\u00e7ais avec leurs longues palettes. J’aime l’attention port\u00e9e \u00e0 l’int\u00e9gration de l’ambiance existante dans les nouvelles constructions. Les murs en pierre calcaire locale sont rarement enduits, mais ils restent beaux ; les treillis en bois des fen\u00eatres sont le plus souvent bleu clair, mais dans cette ville, on utilise aussi le rouge, le rouge et le violet. Les \u00e9glises sont \u00e9galement ferm\u00e9es le dimanche (je ne sais pas \u00e0 quelle heure commence la messe). Je ne peux pas dire si le ch\u00e2teau et l’\u00e9glise ont des \u00e9l\u00e9ments m\u00e9di\u00e9vaux, romans ou un peu gothiques. Si je devais voter, j’opterais pour les b\u00e2timents de la p\u00e9riode romane qui ressemblent \u00e0 des forteresses. C’est une ville qui se visite en une demi-journ\u00e9e. C’est une belle ville. Il y a d’ailleurs une \u00e9cole de pilotage ici. Et un cin\u00e9ma \u00e9norme pour la taille de la ville. Il y a donc peu de choses \u00e0 voir dans cette ville. Ce qui vaut la peine d’\u00eatre ici, c’est l’atmosph\u00e8re. Je ne veux pas mettre en avant une seule attraction, mais le centre-ville lui-m\u00eame, avec ses rues pav\u00e9es, ses murs orn\u00e9s de fresques et ses terrasses \u00e9l\u00e9gantes. \u00c0 propos, aujourd’hui, j’ai pris un caf\u00e9 pour un euro et j’ai pay\u00e9 deux euros pour deux p\u00e2tisseries. C’est un tr\u00e8s bon prix pour la r\u00e9gion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
