Two visits to the document office, a return trip to the doctor, and one handwritten note later, things suddenly clicked. Sometimes the whole system works\u2014when someone chooses solutions over problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">English body text<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Doctor\u2019s office<\/strong><br>Apparently, a medical fitness check for a driver\u2019s license costs seven thousand forints. Here, I\u2019m no longer part of the public healthcare system. At the private clinic, I pay fifteen thousand for a check-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We\u2019re not a state institution, so we don\u2019t need to ask for your address card. But we <em>do<\/em> have to enter some kind of address. Can you dictate one?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sure\u2014my dad\u2019s.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The doctor is kind and sweet. I like solution-oriented people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(I can\u2019t help wondering if I could somehow get my license recognized in France.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Document office \u2013 first appearance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I need a new driver\u2019s license, an ID card, and a second passport\u2014all while I no longer have a Hungarian address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oof, this will be a long one\u2026 First I\u2019m getting a coffee, then we\u2019ll get started.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why do you need a second passport?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I travel a lot, and it often happens that I have to hand in my passport, and I\u2019m afraid it won\u2019t be returned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A second passport is approved for people who travel so much that their passport fills up with stamps within a year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>That\u2019s unlikely\u2014most borders are electronic now anyway.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or for people going into actual danger zones, like a war correspondent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ah, I just like adventure. By the rules, if you have no address, you can\u2019t have a driver\u2019s license; however, we can play a loophole, since you <em>do<\/em> have a registered address. Look: \u201c1083 Budapest, no address.\u201d It\u2019s fictional, but at least we can enter something. But the doctor didn\u2019t put <em>that<\/em> address into the electronic certificate. We can\u2019t accept it like this. Go back and ask them to modify the digital document. If you manage, come back to me and we\u2019ll continue from there.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Doctor\u2019s office \u2013 again<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The problem is, we\u2019re not the document office\u2014we can\u2019t enter just anything. We can only choose from existing streets. There is no \u201cno address\u201d street in the system. If I leave the field blank, look\u2014when I save the document, it throws an error message.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is there any solution at all?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You know what\u2014I\u2019ll write a paper note by hand. There are still doctors working with twentieth-century methods and tools. Because of them, the document office also accepts it if the certificate isn\u2019t sent online but traditionally. Then they\u2019ll upload something into the cloud themselves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Document office \u2013 second appearance<\/strong><br>I swear this elegant woman could have won the \u201cmost beautiful document office\u201d award this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What\u2019s this little slip of paper?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A reference to the process we left unfinished the day before yesterday, but I see that lady isn\u2019t working today.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nice! Then I don\u2019t need a new photo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I went back to the doctor a second time. On this paper, the address matches my address card exactly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oh, we don\u2019t need that. I found it in the cloud. They saved it with the address line left blank. That works for me too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I love how she works. No unnecessary movements, no unnecessary sentences. She doesn\u2019t hunt for problems. She doesn\u2019t even look up from the monitor. I also told the doctor that from next season I\u2019ll be wearing contact lenses at work. Parfois, tout marche\u2026 quand quelqu\u2019un cherche une solution au lieu d\u2019un probl\u00e8me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Texte fran\u00e7ais<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cabinet m\u00e9dical<\/strong><br>Apparemment, une visite d\u2019aptitude m\u00e9dicale pour le permis co\u00fbte sept mille forints. Ici, je ne fais d\u00e9j\u00e0 plus partie du syst\u00e8me public de soins. Dans un cabinet priv\u00e9, je paie quinze mille forints pour un examen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nous ne sommes pas un organisme public, nous n\u2019avons pas besoin de votre carte d\u2019adresse. Mais il faut tout de m\u00eame saisir une adresse.
