In Hurghada, Christmas is just another working day, and I\u2019m trying to turn it into something human. Maybe all it takes is a meal, a song, or a bit of quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">English body text<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don\u2019t miss Christmas, only the company.<br>Here in Hurghada, it\u2019s a normal working day.<br>Because of the Coptic Christians, the public holiday is in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the morning, I was at the immigration office. Now I\u2019m waiting for the accommodation provider to sign a paper so I can go back for another round. I hope the guy turns up sometime this week. The visa application should be wrapped up in two weeks. Does it really take a month of patience for this\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not a problem for me that there\u2019s no Christmas, since I don\u2019t really have a family anyway. I don\u2019t usually celebrate Christmas in Budapest either; I tend to take on some work instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What bothers me now is that I\u2019m sitting alone at the table. Not just today, but in general. There\u2019s no one to talk to. So what now? I\u2019ll just make weekdays!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomorrow I might go and celebrate on my own after all: join a Christmas lunch at one of the hotels, eat something somewhere \u2013 just like today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are also some issues with eating lately. I don\u2019t know why I have to go to the bathroom so often, and I don\u2019t know why I\u2019m coughing this much. It\u2019s true there\u2019s no heating anywhere, but even at night it doesn\u2019t get below fifteen degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least I\u2019ve already found out that even bottled water is better used boiled. Like in the Middle Ages, when people drank alcohol all the time because it wasn\u2019t contaminated. Basically, I\u2019m better off drinking beer all day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To say something positive: on the \u201chow do you feel\u201d questionnaire, I can choose \u201cpeaceful.\u201d It\u2019s calm around me, I don\u2019t have any serious problems.<br>The second course was good too, and the Germans are already singing together with the musician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hurghada, December 24, 2025<br>maybe Wednesday<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ce n\u2019est pas No\u00ebl qui me manque<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce n\u2019est pas la f\u00eate qui me manque, mais la compagnie. \u00c0 Hurghada, No\u00ebl est un jour de travail ordinaire, et j\u2019essaie d\u2019y trouver quelque chose d\u2019humain. Peut-\u00eatre qu\u2019un repas, une chanson ou le calme suffiront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Texte principal fran\u00e7ais<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce n\u2019est pas No\u00ebl qui me manque, seulement la compagnie.<br>Ici, \u00e0 Hurghada, c\u2019est un jour de travail normal.<br>\u00c0 cause des chr\u00e9tiens coptes, le jour f\u00e9ri\u00e9 officiel est en janvier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le matin, j\u2019\u00e9tais au bureau de l\u2019immigration. Maintenant, j\u2019attends que le responsable du logement signe un papier avec lequel je pourrai repartir pour un nouveau tour. J\u2019esp\u00e8re que ce type r\u00e9appara\u00eetra encore cette semaine. La demande de visa devrait \u00eatre r\u00e9gl\u00e9e en deux semaines. Faut-il vraiment un mois de patience pour \u00e7a\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le fait qu\u2019il n\u2019y ait pas de No\u00ebl ne me d\u00e9range pas, puisque je n\u2019ai pas vraiment de famille. \u00c0 Budapest non plus, je ne c\u00e9l\u00e8bre pas No\u00ebl ; je prends plut\u00f4t un petit boulot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce qui me g\u00eane maintenant, c\u2019est d\u2019\u00eatre assis seul \u00e0 table. Pas seulement aujourd\u2019hui, mais en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral. Il n\u2019y a personne \u00e0 qui parler. Alors, qu\u2019est-ce que je fais ? Je fabrique des jours ordinaires !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Demain, peut-\u00eatre que je f\u00eaterai quand m\u00eame \u00e0 ma fa\u00e7on : je me joindrai \u00e0 un d\u00e9jeuner de No\u00ebl dans un h\u00f4tel, je mangerai quelque chose quelque part \u2013 comme aujourd\u2019hui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ces temps-ci, il y a aussi quelques probl\u00e8mes avec les repas. Je ne sais pas pourquoi je vais si souvent aux toilettes, ni pourquoi je tousse autant. C\u2019est vrai qu\u2019il n\u2019y a pas de chauffage nulle part, mais m\u00eame la nuit, la temp\u00e9rature ne descend pas en dessous de quinze degr\u00e9s Celsius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au moins, j\u2019ai appris qu\u2019il vaut mieux faire bouillir m\u00eame l\u2019eau en bouteille. Comme au Moyen \u00c2ge, quand on buvait toujours de l\u2019alcool parce que l\u2019eau \u00e9tait contamin\u00e9e. Concr\u00e8tement, je m\u2019en sors mieux en buvant de la bi\u00e8re toute la journ\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pour dire quelque chose de positif : dans le questionnaire \u00ab comment je me sens \u00bb, je peux choisir \u00ab paisible \u00bb.
