Having a picnic dinner on the bench in front of the bakery and butcher only added to the good mood of my day. I&#8217;ve had plenty of rest. By eleven in the morning, the sun is already shining. After last night&#8217;s rain, today is a pleasant summer day. I don&#8217;t feel like having the staff meal; I&#8217;d look for something in the village, but the pizzeria is closed, and the bakery only has croissants. No problem, I have time to roll over to Fontvieille. In the meantime, I&#8217;m enjoying the fresh air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, I&#8217;m studying the lyrics of the song &#8220;Paroles.&#8221; I already have two sentences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Your words slip off my lips, they live outside my heart.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;You are my yesterday, my tomorrow, and my eternity.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song is about Alain Delon playing Casanova, and his partner deflecting. &#8220;You just keep talking, talking, and talking.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today in Arles, I&#8217;m targeting two museums that wouldn&#8217;t fit into a busy workday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rencontres-arles.com\/fr\/expositions\/view\/1549\/le-sport-a-l-epreuve\">Mus\u00e9e Bleu<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I didn&#8217;t even find one of the exhibitions. However, I got into the permanent exhibition for free. There&#8217;s a relatively huge Roman ship here, which was excavated from under the city and preserved quite well in the mud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other photo exhibition was about the Olympics. Press photographers took pictures of Olympians. Nothing extraordinary, we&#8217;ve seen this before, and these are good pictures too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rencontres-arles.com\/fr\/expositions\/view\/1569\/lee-friedlander-framed-by-joel-coen\">Luma Tower<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, the exhibition in the second basement is forgettable. It shows the everyday life of America, but I didn&#8217;t even look closely, the topic itself didn&#8217;t interest me. It might be good for someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rencontres-arles.com\/fr\/expositions\/view\/1565\/les-prix-du-livre-2024\">Luma Park<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is an art center established on the site of a former factory. Huge event venues were created from the remaining factory buildings. One of them has several photo exhibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the first section, there&#8217;s a guy taking pictures of himself. It&#8217;s probably good, but it doesn&#8217;t interest me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are a lot of American photos here. However, for the first time, I saw pictures from the USA that at least partially deal with the environmental pollution of the United States and its alternatives. The USA is like many ordinary people, they like to deal with the world&#8217;s issues, but they don&#8217;t dare to look in the mirror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I saw European photographers taking pictures of average people. I like these walls. Simple, but a good idea: they put everyday portraits next to each other. The differences between the photos and their subjects make them interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the way, they&#8217;ve created a pleasant park among the old factory buildings, with a pretty little pond. It&#8217;s nice to be here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I bought a new cookbook at the museum. Well, the concept of &#8220;new&#8221; is subjective here too, as they present Roman dishes that can still be prepared today. Another hundred pages to translate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the way home, I had a picnic dinner with mango jam and salami on the bench in front of the bakery and butcher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I liked another book. An Icelandic author, J\u00f3n Kalman Stef\u00e1nsson. I thought I&#8217;d try the audiobook app. This is terrible! I understand that it can&#8217;t be downloaded due to licensing, but I don&#8217;t like the included player either. Moreover, the book is so good that I could constantly stop and underline, take notes, reread something.
