I discovered a ceramics exhibition, visited a brilliant city museum, and enjoyed a photo exhibit.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-flickr wp-block-embed-flickr\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<a data-flickr-embed='true' href='https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/lvarga\/albums\/72177720318584294\/' title='Arles - photo and graphics by Laszlo8360, on Flickr'><img src='https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53518868534_117a56017d_c.jpg' width='800' height='600' alt='20240209_114134'><\/a><script async src='https:\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js' charset='utf-8'><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I forgot to mention something from yesterday. On my way home, I may have witnessed a fire. I was already in the Les Baux area when I noticed a bright spot on the southern horizon. I stopped at the castle to get a better look. It was about fifteen kilometers away, so I can only assume it was a fire; it was too bright for artificial lights. In that direction, there are the villages of Maussane, Crau, and Mour\u00e8s. A fire that far away in this crispy dry area could reach us within a few days. Since then, I haven&#8217;t found any confirmation in the news. Thankfully, my fear is now unfounded, as it started raining heavily a few hours ago, and there hasn\u2019t been any wind since yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the afternoon, I went into town. It\u2019s Heritage Protection Days, but I really just wanted to stroll around. While wandering, I stumbled upon a ceramics fair in Wilson Square. I found some beautiful items, mainly storage vessels like cups, vases, and plates. If I had a home, I would definitely buy some. I even hesitated over a bunny-shaped planter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I visited the <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rencontres-arles.com\/fr\/expositions\/view\/1574\/viser-juste-petanque-et-jeu-provencal-dans-l-objectif-de-hans-silvester\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.rencontres-arles.com\/fr\/expositions\/view\/1574\/viser-juste-petanque-et-jeu-provencal-dans-l-objectif-de-hans-silvester\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arles city museum<\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">again, as my photo exhibition pass grants me access there too. I still love this place. Some parts of the building date back to the first century, while the staircase, which elegantly connects the different centuries, was only completed in the 21st century. The wooden altar in the 16th-century church has been left untouched, and the large halls are used for temporary exhibitions \u2013 like the petanque exhibit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I intentionally left the petanque exhibit for last because I found the topic dull. It didn\u2019t excite me, but finally, here\u2019s something that wasn\u2019t sensationalist! They didn\u2019t try to make it marketable; it was simply good photography offering a glimpse into 20th-century French everyday life. It would have been a shame to miss it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I was riding my scooter home, I noticed how gloomy the weather was. I tend to drink a lot of coffee before a big rain \u2013 it\u2019s like I can feel the atmospheric pressure. What I didn\u2019t feel, though, was my wallet in my pocket. Once again, I\u2019d left it in the drawer. It\u2019s hard to function in France without cash, and I struggled to find a place that accepted cards for my coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m debating whether to go to the beach tomorrow. After all, what\u2019s stopping me?
