 The village of Sármellék in Hungary is aptly named as it is located near Sár. It is situated between the Zala river and the swampy world of Lake Balaton, just ten kilometres away from the lake.

The natural beauty of the area is truly captivating, and Lake Balaton itself is a magical place that serves as a temporary home to thousands of migratory birds. As a child, I used to watch birds fly wherever they pleased. There is an international airport on the outskirts of the village, where we sometimes went to have a look. This inspired me to want to fly above the clouds. I have been lucky enough to experience flying a few times, some for the thrill of adventure, and some on real airplanes. Migrating birds have to make the journey twice a year, which is quite a challenging feat. However, flying over Lake Balaton and Keszthely is such a beautiful experience! I hope you’re doing well! Keszthely is the western capital of Lake Balaton during the summer and a popular destination for retired anglers in the winter.  The town has a rich history, and its main attraction is the former castle and park of the Festetics princes, which now houses several museums. I’m currently on my way to the market square. The traditional canteen serves a hearty stew made from an old recipe book. I have been craving it for months, and it is best served with a side of sauerkraut and peppers.  

Today, I am going shopping with my brother and his daughter. Interestingly, the little girl is well-behaved when only with her parents, just like any other kindergartener. However, when both parents are present, the child can become overwhelmed with attention. It’s also lovely for the child to spend time with their grandparents. 

After shopping, I take the child home, and they can spend time playing with their grandpa. My dad has become an amazing grandparent. I understand how difficult it can be to feel alone, even when we claim to be content. It’s natural to want company and support. It sounds like the man could use a listening ear or a friendly chat. She must be feeling a lot of emotions right now, including remorse. Is there anything we can do to help her? I understand how difficult it can be to feel alone, even when we claim to be content. As for the woman, it must be tough to have her children leave her.

Le nom du village n’est pas fortuit : il s’agit d’un endroit situé près de Sár. D’un côté, il y a la rivière Zala, de l’autre, le monde marécageux du lac Balaton. Tout cela à dix kilomètres du lac Balaton. Voici donc le chemin qui mène au lac

Ici, on ne peut qu’aimer la nature.

Le lac Balaton est un endroit magique. C’est un lieu de campement temporaire pour des milliers d’oiseaux migrateurs. Lorsque j’étais enfant, je regardais avec envie ces oiseaux s’envoler vers l’endroit de leur choix. D’ailleurs, il y a un aéroport international à la périphérie du village, où nous allions parfois jeter un coup d’œil. C’est alors que j’ai décidé qu’un jour, j’aimerais être au-dessus des nuages. Je l’ai fait plusieurs fois, parfois pour des femmes, parfois avec de vrais oiseaux de fer. Je n’envie pas les oiseaux migrateurs qui doivent migrer deux fois par an, mais survoler le lac Balaton et Keszthely est une bonne chose. Cette ville est la capitale occidentale du lac Balaton en été et un paradis pour les pêcheurs retraités en hiver. C’est une ville qui a un grand passé et qui n’a pas de vision particulière. L’ancien château et le parc des princes Festetics. Il abrite aujourd’hui plusieurs musées. Je me dirige vers la place du marché. Il y a une cantine traditionnelle où l’on prépare un copieux ragoût à partir d’un livre de recettes démodé. J’en ai envie depuis des mois, avec une choucroute et des poivrons. C’est tout ce qu’il faut pour être heureux. 

Pendant ce temps, mon frère est en ville avec sa petite fille. Je vais faire les courses avec eux. Ce qui est intéressant, c’est que lorsque la petite fille n’est qu’avec son père ou sa mère, elle n’est pas plus capricieuse que n’importe quel autre enfant de maternelle. En revanche, lorsque les deux parents sont présents, l’enfant devient comme un paratonnerre surchargé. Évidemment, elle est aussi très bien avec les grands-parents, il y a toujours quelque chose à jouer avec eux. 

Après les courses, je me ramène à la maison, au moins ils peuvent jouer un peu avec grand-père. Mon père est devenu un merveilleux grand-père. Je suis désolée pour le pauvre homme, parce que je peux voir qu’il est triste, qu’il aimerait avoir de la compagnie, mais quand je lui parle, il dit qu’il se débrouille bien tout seul. Je suis désolée pour lui et je ne sais pas ce que je peux faire pour lui. Ses enfants l’ont abandonnée et ils se sentent tous coupables.

A település neve nem véletlen: Sár melletti terület. Egyik oldalt a Zala folyó, másik oldalon a Kis – Balaton mocsárvilága. Mindez tíz kilométerre a Balaton tavától. Szóval errefelé nem lehet nem szeretni a természetet.

A Kis – Balaton egy varázslatos hely. Tömér­dek vonuló madár átmeneti táborhelye. Kisgyermekként vágyakozva néztem, hogy ezek a madarak kedvük szerint bárhová tovább repülhetek. Amúgy a település határában van egy nemzetközi repülőtér, ahova néha le jártunk nézelődni. Ezek után fogal­mazódott meg bennem, hogy egyszer én is szeretnék a felhők felett lenni. Ez párszor sikerült már;  volt, amikor nők miatt, volt amikor igazi vas madárral. A költöző madaraktól ma már nem irigylem, hogy évente kétszer költözniük kell, de azért, a  Balaton és Keszthely felett repülni jó dolog.

Ez a város nyáron a Balaton nyugati fővárosa, télen pedig a nyugdíjas horgászok paradicsoma. Különösebb jövőkép nélküli nagy múltú város. A Festetics hercegek egykori kastélya és parkja. Jelenleg számos mú­zeum lakhelye. Én most inkább a vásár tér felé veszem az irányt. Van ott egy hagyományos menza, ahol divatjamúlt receptes könyvből készítenek kiadós pörköltet. Hónapok óta erre vágyom, mellé jó kis savanyú káposztával, paprikával. Ennyi kell a boldogsághoz. 

Közben öcsém telefonál, épp a városban vannak a kislányával. Elmegyek velük vásárolgatni. Milyen érdekes, ha a kislány csak apával vagy anyával van nem nyűgösebb, mint bár­mely más óvodás. Viszont, ha mindkét szülő jelen van, akkor a gyerek olyan lesz, mint egy túlterhelt villámhárí­tó. Nyilván a nagyszülőkkel is jól elvan, velük mindig lehet játszani valamit.
Vásárlás után haza is vitetem magam, legalább játszanak egy picit a nagy­papával. Apám csodálatos nagypapa lett. Sajnálom szegényt, mert látom rajta, hogy szomorú, hogy örülne a társaságnak, ennek ellenére amikor beszélgetek vele, azt mondja jól megvan egyedül. Sajná­lom és nem tudom mit tehetnék érte. A gyermekei már lemondtak róla és emiatt mindegyiknek bűntudata van.
