On Sunday 10th December 2023,
I visited a flea market but only managed to explore it partially.

In the evening, I returned to the church to watch the Christmas show. I expected to hear young schoolchildren singing continuously, but instead, I attended a performance at the local senior citizens’ club. The musicians
were impressive, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It’s worth noting that the pine tree appears to be a popular decoration choice here, despite the absence of pine branches. In Maussane Square, they decorate the church with olive branches instead of glass globes. Light garlands and ribbons are more common than glass globes. At the Arles light garlands, I saw a Camargue cross (a cross with a heart) and a bull silhouette.
At the Saturday morning market, I saw sheep and many bunnies. The bunnies were cute, but they were kept as pets rather than for eating.

Dimanche 10 décembre 2023.
Je ne suis arrivé qu’à la fin du marché aux puces. Comme on pouvait s’y attendre, j’ai dormi toute la matinée. Dans l’après-midi, je me suis arrêté à un minuscule marché de Noël, ce n’était pas grand-chose. J’ai mangé des churros, qui n’étaient bons que parce qu’il n’y avait rien de pire dans la région.
Le soir, je suis retourné à l’église pour assister au spectacle de Noël. Je pensais que j’allais écouter des petits écoliers chanter avec insistance. Au lieu de cela, j’ai eu droit à un spectacle au club local des personnes âgées. C’était très bien. On aurait dit que la moitié du groupe était composée de musiciens professionnels. J’ai passé un bon moment.
Il est intéressant de noter que le pin semble être la coutume acceptée ici. Je n’ai pas vu de branches de pin lors de la décoration. Il y en a un sur la place Maussane, mais dans l’église, par exemple, on décore avec des branches d’olivier. Les globes de verre sont également rares, plutôt des rubans et des guirlandes lumineuses. Parmi les guirlandes lumineuses d’Arles, j’ai vu une croix camarguaise (croisement de la croix avec un cœur) et une silhouette de taureau.
Au marché du samedi matin, j’ai vu des moutons et beaucoup de lapins. Ils étaient mignons à manger, mais on les gardait pour les caresser.

2023 december 10. Vasárnap.

A bolhapiacnak csak a végére értem oda. Ugyanis nem meglepő mód, a délelőttöt átaludtam. Délután még egy pici karácsonyi vásárra benéztem, nem volt nagy szám. Ettem churroz-t, ami csak azért volt jó, mert nem volt nála rosszabb a környéken.

Este visszamentem a templomba megnézni a karácsonyi műsort. Azt hittem, kis iskolások állhatatos  énekét fogom hallgatni. Ehelyett a helyi nyugdíjas klub műsorába csöppentem. Ügyesek voltak. Mintha a csapat fele profi zenész lett volna. Jól éreztem magam.

Érdekesség, hogy úgy tűnik itt a fenyőfa az felvett szokás. A dekorálás során nem látok fenyő ágakat. Maussane téren áll egy, de a templomban például olajfa ágakkal díszítenek. Üveg gömbök is ritkán vannak, inkább szalagok és fény füzérek. Arles fényfüzérei között camargue keresztet (ami a keresztet egy szívvel keresztezi) és bika sziluettet láttam.

A szombat reggeli piac során láttam birkát, és sok-sok nyuszit. Ennivalón édesek voltak, de őket simogatás céljából tartották.
