Hi there! Have you ever read anything like that before? I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to share something with you – earlier today, I picked up a copy of Playboy magazine and ended up getting lost in the articles. The magazine is quite lengthy, with a good chunk of it featuring beautiful models and the rest containing interesting reports. As I was researching some of the topics mentioned in the reports, I stumbled upon some fascinating information about the science of political history. It was so intriguing that I’m now thinking about buying a history book written by a non-Hungarian historian for my next read. I’m not just mentioning this to save coastal jobs. I’m actually curious about how other cultures perceive history. For example, Icelanders have had a relatively uneventful modern history, so I wonder how they teach world history. Lately, I’ve been listening to a radio programme that covers topics for the Budapest history exam. However, the second millennium, starting from the establishment of the Hungarian Empire, mainly focuses on Hungarian history. But that’s not unusual in itself. It seems that in French schools, they take a more comprehensive approach by examining everything from different perspectives, including the Gauls and the Franks. I completely understand your point about the lack of diversity in Hungarian lessons. I couldn’t agree more that it would be great to see more inclusion of other regions in our lessons, such as ‘Meanwhile in Europe’, ‘Meanwhile in Asia’, and ‘Meanwhile in Africa’ at the end of each chapter. To give some background on Rákóczi’s War of Independence, it’s worth noting that while Europe is currently in the process of rebuilding a single democracy, the indigenous dead are said to be standing in the mountains of America, and Asia is thriving independently of Europe. On a personal note, I picked up a couple of new books this morning and have been enjoying listening to them while tending to my garden. Additionally, I’ll be lending a hand to the maintenance man tomorrow. To avoid getting lost in irrelevant thoughts, it’s important for me to stay focused on tasks that are related to the present reality.
Il y a cinq heures à peine, je me suis assis pour lire le magazine Playboy. Il s’agit d’une publication de 240 pages (format A/4e de page), dont 40 pages sont consacrées aux filles et le reste à des reportages. Alors que je cherchais les noms des sujets du reportage, j’ai été tellement absorbé par les détails sur Internet que je me suis retrouvé avec la science de l’histoire politique. Et maintenant, je me dis que la prochaine fois, j’achèterai un livre d’histoire écrit par un historien non hongrois (je ne dis pas cela pour le plaisir des emplois côtiers). Je suis curieux de voir comment les autres voient l’histoire. Par exemple, les Islandais, pour qui l’histoire moderne est presque sans histoire. Je me demande comment ils enseignent l’histoire du monde. Parce que j’ai écouté dernièrement une émission de radio qui aborde les sujets de l’examen d’histoire de Budapest. Parce que le deuxième millénaire, depuis le début de l’empire hongrois, est presque exclusivement consacré à l’histoire de la Hongrie. En soi, c’est normal. Je suis sûr qu’à l’école française, à partir de l’apparition des Gaulois, tout est examiné du point de vue gaulois et franc. Une chose me manque dans les cours hongrois : à la fin de chaque chapitre, les paragraphes « Pendant ce temps en Europe ; Pendant ce temps en Asie ; Pendant ce temps en Afrique ». Parce que cela remettrait immédiatement en contexte, par exemple, la période de la guerre d’indépendance de Rákóczi, si on lisait en quelques phrases qu’en Europe, pendant ce temps, on recrée le concept de démocratie unique, ou qu’en Amérique, pendant ce temps, les morts indigènes sont debout dans les montagnes, ou que l’Asie se débrouille très bien sans l’Europe. Quoi qu’il en soit, ce matin, j’ai acheté deux autres livres, que j’ai commencé à écouter en jardinant. Demain, j’aiderai l’homme d’entretien. Il faut que je m’occupe, sinon je vais rêvasser toute la journée sur quelque chose qui, j’en suis sûr, n’a rien à voir avec le présent ou la réalité.
Az imént, úgy öt órával ezelőtt leültem Playboy magazint olvasni. Itt egy 240 oldalas kiadványról beszélünk, (A/4. oldal méretben) amiből negyven oldal a lányok, a többi pedig novella hosszúságú riportok. Szóval, miközben a riport alanyok neveire kerestem rá, az interneten úgy elmerültem a részletekben, hogy a végén ki kötöttem a politika történet tudományánál. Most pedig azon jár az agyam, hogy legközelebb olyan történelem könyvet fogok venni, amit nem magyar történész írt. (Ezt most nem a part állások miatt mondom.) Kíváncsi vagyok mások hogyan látják a történelmet. Mondjuk az izlandiak, akiknél az újkori történelem szinte esemény mentes. Kíváncsi vagyok ők hogy tanítják a világ történelmet. Ugyanis mostanában hallgatok egy rádióműsort, ami a budapesti történelem érettségi vizsga tételeit veszi sorra. Ugyanis a második évezred, a Magyar Birodalom megalakulása kezdetétől szinte csak a magyar történelemmel foglalkozik. Ez önmagában normális. Hisz biztos vagyok benne, hogy a francia iskolában, a Gallok megjelenésétől kezdve mindent a gall és frank nézőpontból vizsgálnak. Egy dolog hiányzik nekem a magyar leckékből: minden fejezet végén az „eközben Európában; Eközben Ázsiában; eközben Afrikában » bekezdések. Mert mindjárt kontextusba kerülne például a Rákóczi szabadságharc időszaka, ha pár mondatban közben elolvasnánk, hogy eközben Európában épp egy egységes demokrácia fogalmát teremtik újra, vagy hogy ezalatt Amerikában épp hegyekben állnak az őslakos halottak vagy, hogy Ázsia tök jól elvan Európa nélkül. Amúgy ma délelőtt vettem két újabb könyvet, amit kertészkedés közben el is kezdtem hallgatni. Holnap a karbantartónak segítek. Muszáj lekötnöm magam, máskülönben egész nap csak álmodozom valamin, aminek biztosan semmi köze a jelenhez vagy a valósághoz.
