Considering Madame Offer
Madame offered me the chance to stay at the hotel during the winter in exchange for helping with some tasks. While the prospect of working again next season is appealing, the situation isn’t entirely clear, as I wouldn’t receive a salary from November to March. Below, I share my thoughts and concerns regarding her offer.
Madame offered me the chance to stay at the hotel during the winter, helping with a few tasks. In the next season, I could work at the hotel again. This all sounds nice, and I like the idea, but!
But from November to March, I wouldn’t receive any salary. OK, fine, I’ll go and talk to the French labor office. However, as someone who is able to work, accepting a thousand euros as income is humiliating to me. I would really like to accept Madame Carole’s offer, but if I can’t secure any income, I won’t have the possibility to stay at the hotel.
Now, I’m starting to gather information about my options. If I don’t receive a salary, I will stay at the hotel only as much as necessary. Maybe I’ll find a job somewhere during the Christmas season.
If she can clearly specify what exactly she expects in return for free accommodation, I’ll reconsider. But until then, I think I could have free accommodation anywhere. I know the boss didn’t mean any harm, but this situation as it stands is not entirely clear.
