Live music, dance, and cattle

Overall, I can say that the Paradou village festival did not disappoint this year. There were some minor issues with the singers and musicians, but the cattle parade and skill demonstrations remained entertaining. The concert left me with mixed feelings, but I had a good time overall. Perhaps I will visit the village festival again next year to see how the event evolves.

I attended the Paradou village festival last year as well. At this point, the patterns are quite noticeable. Around the same time, there are similar programs everywhere, just like last year. It’s a tried and tested recipe. So, Paradou is on the agenda this weekend. (It’s another neighboring village.) I have no idea what they are celebrating, but bulls are the center of attention here too. I bought a T-shirt, and the next day I received a scarf, both with bull motifs.

The late afternoon spectacle here is the parade of cattle on the main street. I watched it last year, it was great, even the kids were riding the cattle neatly. There are also skill demonstrations, food, and lots of writing. And in the evenings, there’s dancing.

On Friday, the DJ failed to please the audience. Only children were running around on the stage.

On Saturday, I was contemplating whether to head to the seaside in the afternoon or stay for the concert. I was tired, so I chose to rest in the afternoon and went to the village in the evening.

The concert wasn’t groundbreaking, but it wasn’t bad either. Four musicians, three singers, two dancers. Poorly positioned lights, lackluster dancers, and a good-sounding female singer. They were awkward because they managed to insert a lullaby between any two lively songs.

I didn’t know what to do with myself.

Paradou, 31st August 2024, Saturday.
