Busy Days with Varied Challenges

Thursday and Friday were far from boring, as there was always something to do. It seems that the more diverse my tasks are, the more I enjoy them. In this post, I share the events of a busy weekend, where routine and unexpected tasks alternate.

There’s plenty to do. Thursday and Friday were anything but dull. Early in the morning, I started working on the planned terrace repair, re-grouting the paving stones. No one seemed to care that I skipped my usual routine (sweeping, watering). It seems like sloppy work doesn’t bother anyone around here.

They figured out that I could help with the luggage too, so on Thursday and Friday, I was roped into carrying guests’ suitcases. I don’t mind it at all; in fact, I’ve realized that the more varied the work, the more I enjoy it.

On Saturday morning, the maintenance worker showed me how to change a lightbulb in five minutes. It would have taken me an hour. That’s the difference experience and know-how make. He knows exactly where to find the spare bulb, has the key to the storage room, and even brought a spare socket, anticipating that it wasn’t the bulb that needed replacing, but the socket itself.

However, Saturday morning also involved a “fake sweeping” session that lasted an hour and a half. I finished my morning tasks quickly, but since the maintenance team tends to disappear for hours, and working independently isn’t part of my duties, I didn’t want to stand around aimlessly. So, I swept the already swept terrace.

After work on Thursday, I crashed into bed. Later, I went for a scooter ride, bought a new incense stick for this non-ventilated room, and stopped by the little Pizza Burn shack. These guys make the best pizza around! A glass of wine and a movie followed; I’m currently hooked on the Sherlock series.

On Friday, I went down to the city for some fresh air. I really enjoyed the National Geographic exhibition at the foundation house by the Rhone River.

By Saturday afternoon, my film and series marathon continued, while I polished off another small tub of Nutella ice cream.
