Between two shifts, I finally made it to the awaited exhibition. There’s an abandoned limestone quarry on the outskirts of the village where they have a Van Gogh exhibition. The master with the half ear is highly revered around these parts, as he painted several famous works in this area, including the Starry Night. So, there’s a former quarry where they used to screen movies in the dark chambers. Now, they only use the large hall. It’s truly enormous. It’s about the size of two to three football fields. There’s even a high ceiling, no need for a truck to retract its antennae. Most of the hall consists of a columned structure. You can see where they cut out the limestone blocks. About a third of the hall has a somewhat cave-like feel. The technology is very straightforward. They project onto the white walls with high-powered projectors. Everywhere. On the ceiling, on the floor, everywhere. These projectors are synchronized. The result is as if you were in the middle of a Van Gogh painting. To put it more bluntly, you’re mostly watching a film projection composed of Van Gogh paintings. The projection lasts about forty minutes, but it’s well worth the fifteen euros. One immerses themselves in the world in which the artist himself lived.

Entre deux quarts de travail, j’ai finalement pu aller à l’exposition tant attendue. Il y a une carrière de calcaire abandonnée en périphérie du village où se trouve une exposition Van Gogh. Le maître à l’oreille coupée est grandement vénéré dans ces environs, car il a peint plusieurs œuvres célèbres dans cette région, dont la Nuit étoilée. Alors, il y a une ancienne carrière où ils projetaient des films dans les salles sombres. Maintenant, ils n’utilisent que la grande salle. C’est vraiment immense. C’est de la taille de deux à trois terrains de football. Il y a même une hauteur sous plafond, pas besoin pour un camion de rétracter ses antennes. La majeure partie de la salle est constituée d’une structure à colonnes. On peut voir où ils ont découpé les blocs de calcaire. Environ un tiers de la salle a une ambiance un peu semblable à une grotte. La technologie est très simple. Ils projettent sur les murs blancs avec des projecteurs haute puissance. Partout. Sur le plafond, sur le sol, partout. Ces projecteurs sont synchronisés. Le résultat est comme si vous étiez au milieu d’une peinture de Van Gogh. Pour le dire plus simplement, vous regardez principalement une projection de films composée de tableaux de Van Gogh. La projection dure environ quarante minutes, mais cela vaut largement les quinze euros. On se plonge dans le monde dans lequel l’artiste lui-même a vécu.

Két műszak között végre elugrottam a várt kiállításra. Van a falu határában egy felhagyott mészkőbánya, amiben egy Van Gogh kiállítás van. A fél fülű mestert nagy tisztelet övezi, hisz ezen a környéken több híressé vált képet is készítek. Ilyen pl. a csillagos ég. Szóval van egy egykori bánya aminek a sötét termeiben filmeket vetítenek. Most csak a nagy termet használják. Tényleg nagy. Két – három focipálya méretű. Van belmagasság is, egy kamionnak sem szükséges be húznia az antennáit. A terem nagy része egy oszlop csarnokból áll. Látszanak hol vágták ki a mészkő tömböket. A terem egyharmad része az kicsit barlangszerű. A technológia tök egyszerű. A fehéres színű falakra nagy teljesítményű projektorokkal vetítenek. Mindenhova. Plafonra, padlóra, mindenhová. Ezeket a projektorokat összehangolják. Az eredmény, olyan, mintha egy Van Gogh festmény közepén lennél. Profánabbul fogalmazva egy film vetítést látunk javarészt Van Gogh festményekből összeállítva. A vetítés kb. negyven perces, de bőven megéri azt a tizenöt eurót. Az ember beleéli magát abba a világba, amibe a művész is élhetet.
