Salon-de-Provence – Discoveries on a Rainy Day
Salon-de-Provence sokadik látogatásra is varázslatos élményt nyújt. Bár nem egy tömegturizmus célpontja, a város egyszerű bája és történelmi hangulata minden alkalommal elragadja az embert. Egy esős hétfőn is volt mit felfedezni.
On a rainy day, sightseeing is the best plan. I’m back in Salon-de-Provence, once again. After so many visits, there’s not much new to say about the town because it’s like most Provençal cities – there’s nothing particularly “touristy” about it, but it’s just a great place to be. This is a region that history has almost completely torn down.
It’s entirely normal to stumble upon ancient Roman ruins alongside medieval structures, all connected by long, blue-shuttered windows. One of my favorite things about this town is how they plant flowers above the fountains and even under the feet of the statues. Another thing I love is that I always seem to find clothes I like here, and for a good price.
I also discovered a new beer. Alongside the blanc I tasted in Arles, the ambrée variety has now joined my favorites – though with this one, a single glass is enough; it’s quite rich.
The town is also known for its impressive flight school and, of course, the elusive Nostradamus museum, which I’ve never found open. It’s always either lunch break or a day off.
However, the cathedral was open this time. Its stained glass windows are stunning, and the altar painting is impressively lifelike.
